Sentencing the case of former police officers interfering with beautiful number plates

Defendant Nguyen Ba District (former head of An Giang Police Traffic Department) was sentenced to two years in prison, Nguyen Huu An (former deputy captain of the Road Motor Vehicle Registration and Management Team) to one year and nine months in prison; The remaining defendants were entitled to suspended sentences
 
After several days of deliberations, in the afternoon of October 16, the People's Court of An Giang province sentenced the former head of the road traffic department (PC08) of An Giang province police and his subordinates to abuse their positions of authority to wrongly issue thousands of license plates.
 
Accordingly, the Trial Council sentenced defendant Nguyen Ba District (former head of PC08 Department) to two years in prison, Nguyen Huu An (former deputy captain of the Road Motor Vehicle Registration and Management Team) to one year and nine months in prison;
The defendants Bui Quoc Khanh (former captain of registration, road motor vehicle manager - PC08 Department) received 18 months suspended imprisonment, Vo Chi Linh and Nguyen Hoang Em (former officer of PC08 Department) and 15 months suspended prison together for abusing their positions and powers while performing their official duties,  for tampering with the software system that issues random license plates for personal gain.
 
Through the trial, based on the documents and evidence contained in the case file, the testimony of the defendants in court, and the results of litigation, the Trial Council determined that from August 2012 to 6-2021, the District as the Head of PC08 Department directed and assigned the leadership account to An and Khanh to manipulate the issuance of number plates at will.
 
With the help of Hoang Em and Linh, An and Khanh, taking advantage of their assigned positions and powers, wrongly interfered with regulations on car registration and management software to select and issue license plates of cars according to the wishes of themselves, relatives and acquaintances.
A total of 5,056 plates issued incorrectly include: 4,175 plates issued by swapping; 881 number plates issued by entering old data to get direct number plates are not regulated.
